Paul Schulmann
Founder and Managing Director
Paul Schulmann is the Founder and Managing Director of Canari, a boutique market research and business consulting firm. With over a decade of experience in designing, developing, and leveraging research to drive strategic decision-making, he specializes in optimizing organizational design and capital structure, consumer insights, market analysis, business intelligence, and corporate strategy.
Before founding Canari, Paul served as the Director of Product Market Research & Consumer Insights at one of the largest education management companies globally, leading groundbreaking research initiatives that significantly influenced the organization’s strategies and growth. He also served as the Director of Strategy Analysis & Insights. In the role he leveraged his research and business expertise to evaluate, operationalize, and implement opportunities for revenue diversification by focusing on optimizing existing business lines, developing new product SKUs, and horizontal growth through M&A.
He has authored over 30 papers and reports and presented at numerous national and international conferences. His clients span sectors such as international education, education management, pharmaceuticals, and financial services. For his contributions to the field of Market Research, Paul was selected as a Marquis Who’s Who Honoree. Paul received his education at Columbia Business School (MBA) and holds a master’s degree in public and international affairs, and bachelor’s degrees in legal studies and philosophy.
Tania Paola Arevalo
Partner and Senior Director
Tania Arevalo, Partner and Senior Director of Canari, is a senior leader in Marketing, Research, and Insights with 15+ years of experience across the United States and Latin America. She helps organizations make confident choices about products and brands by grounding strategy in customer and market evidence. Her work spans product strategy, brand positioning, segmentation, pricing, competitive intelligence, and go-to-market planning.
Tania is known for working closely with executive teams and cross-functional partners to translate research into clear decisions: what to build next, how to position it, where to compete, and how to launch. She mentors teams, strengthens research standards, and sets up repeatable ways of working that scale across portfolios and markets.
She holds an MBA and has led marketing and research functions in both national and multinational companies in Ecuador and the United States and currently teaches undergraduate students at Universidad San Francisco de Quito, ranked as the top university in Ecuador.
